How to Play

Everything a first-time player needs to know before their first round.

The idea

Each round, one player is the guesser. Everyone else knows a secret word and each writes one clue to help the guesser figure it out — without saying the word itself. Here's the twist: if two or more people write the same clue, all of those matching clues get thrown out before the guesser ever sees them. So you're not just trying to write a good clue — you're trying to write one nobody else will think of.

It's fully cooperative: the whole group wins or loses together, round by round, and there's a leaderboard tracking who's contributing the most along the way.

A round, step by step

1

One player is automatically picked as the guesser for the round. They step away (in this case, their screen just says "you're guessing!") while everyone else sees the secret word.

2

Every other player privately types one clue — a single word meant to help the guesser land on the secret word.

3

Once all clues are in, the game (and the host) reviews them. Any matching clues are automatically struck out, and clues that give away too much (see the rules below) are struck out too. The host can strike anything else that seems too similar.

4

The surviving clues are revealed to the guesser, who gets one guess.

5

The host confirms whether the guess was correct. Everyone sees the result — word, guess, and an updated leaderboard — before moving to the next round.

Host powers

The host creates the room and drives the game along. A few things only the host (or, if the host happens to be guessing that round, whoever the game temporarily hands review duties to) can do:
